Who we are

Retruvai is operated by Retruvai Limited, based in England. These terms govern your use of the Retruvai service, including the website and any related features ("the service"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

Eligibility

To use Retruvai during beta, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be a current student or staff member of Imperial College London
• Hold a valid Imperial College email address
• Use the service as an individual, not on behalf of a business or organisation

We may verify your eligibility at any time and suspend accounts that do not meet these criteria.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your account with anyone. You must notify us immediately at hello@retruvai.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You must provide accurate information when creating your profile. Deliberately misleading information, including false photos or fictitious answers, is grounds for immediate suspension.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Create multiple accounts or impersonate another person
• Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or misuse the matching algorithm
• Use the service for commercial purposes, recruiting, or solicitation
• Share another user's identity, photo, or personal information outside the app
• Screenshot or record any part of a match interaction

Retruvai is built on trust. Behaviour that undermines that trust may result in permanent removal from the platform.

How matching works

For now, matches are made by hand by our team rather than by an algorithm. We use the information you provide on signup to pair you with another participant we think you might enjoy meeting. We may introduce automated compatibility scoring over time; we will update these terms and our Privacy Policy if we do. The match is a suggestion, not a guarantee, and we do not promise that any meeting will result in a successful connection.

Use of your data for AI and machine learning

To improve Retruvai, we may use the data you provide on the service, including profile content, the three open-text answers, match outcomes, and post-meeting feedback, to train and refine algorithms and machine-learning models. We use pseudonymised or aggregated data where possible. We do not sell your data to third parties to train their models, and we do not pass your identifiable personal data to third-party AI services without first removing information that could identify you. Reliability score

We compute a reliability score based on your activity on the platform, including confirmed meetings and cancellations. This score may affect the frequency or priority of matches you receive.

If you believe a decision based on your reliability score has significantly affected you, you have the right to request human review. Contact us at hello@retruvai.com.

Meetings and safety

Retruvai facilitates in-person meetings between users. You are responsible for your own safety when meeting another user. We recommend meeting in public places on campus and trusting your instincts.

Retruvai is not responsible for what happens during or after an in-person meeting. If you feel unsafe at any point, please leave the situation and report the user to us.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these terms, if your eligibility lapses, or if we determine that your continued presence is harmful to other users or the platform.

You may delete your account at any time. On deletion, your personal data will be anonymised as described in our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The Retruvai name, logo, and product are owned by Retruvai Limited. You may not use them without written permission. Content you submit to your profile remains yours. By submitting it, you grant us a limited licence to use it to operate the service.

Limitation of liability

Retruvai is provided during beta on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties about uptime, accuracy of matches, or fitness for any particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, Retruvai Limited is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product develops. We will notify you by email before significant changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that point constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
